Samuel Crosse

Date of birth unknown. Principal player. And an absolute blank.

Actor; listed among the 26 “principal actors” of Shakespeare’s plays in the First Folio, but mentioned nowhere else in the company’s documentation. He may have become a sharer in the company in 1604, but died soon after (Wikipedia).

He is named as one of the actors in the First Folio, and is named by Thomas Heywood as a famous actor “before my time” (i.e. the mid 1590s), but otherwise nothing is known of him. A Samuel Crosse was baptized in 1568, which may be the actor (David Kathman).

Crosse being an absolute blank, leaves this reconstruction some room for speculation. And name him as a possible ‘Chorus’, who speaks the prologue to Act Two.
